I need help,please....silvertop with blacktop ecu.

Postby gt20v » Tue Apr 19, 2005 4:23 pm

hi guys,

finish done the wiring with blacktop ecu in place of the silvertop ecu.
car started find...everything fine except i cant half throttle at all.The engine like cant go at all..i cant explain except that when in mid throttle, like the fuel doesnt go to the engine.
When i bump the pressure to a whooping 60psi....then the engine will not show a very big the brrr...brrrr effect...

is the O2 problem?

Oh dear god... what were you thinking!

The silvertop & Blacktop run completely different air sensors.
Silvertop runs a flap type Air Flow Meter, the Blacktop runs a MAP sensor.

Get hold of a Map sensor, remove the AFM, there'll be plenty of other little sensors you'll need to get frmo a blacktop as well, as there are things like air temp sensors in the AFM (on a ST)

Why did you change the ecu over?

It might be something to do with the VVT kicking over, i think the function is different between silver and black

VVT is not really different, I run black top cams on silver top engine/ecu with black top VVT pulley, can't say they different except black top one is quieter....
but black ecu top switches off the VVT earlier then silvertop ecu (6800 vs 7600rpms)...

check your cam timing, you might be off by one tooth... also where did you hook up the map sensor, if in same place as FPR it is a very wrong place, there is a tube going on other side of the manifold, near fat from idle control solenoid, in fact it is just next to it, put a T in it and run map sensor from it, + don't forget to use damper (plastic cylinder which goes inline with MAP)

Ehh, the blacktop ecu switches vvt off 1200rpm from redline? I know the silvertop is around what you say as I've had a light hooked up but I don't remember seeing my mates blacktop switch off at 6800.

can i know is it bcoz of the vac source??ive check the ecu.no problem.
the only thing is either vac or TPS or O2 sensor......??
