NEED PICTURE OF 4AGE BLOCK..

Postby 1598cc » Fri Apr 22, 2005 1:09 pm

so im lucky i didnt blow the headgasket, instead a leak somehwere around the back of the block near where the alternator sits , started pissing out water so a hose came off or something.. ive heard there is a hose or something around the back, but ive never seen myself and there isnt much room to see, so need a picture of a engine with showing clearly the water line at back of block.

cheers

If you jack the car up and have a look from underneath you can see most of those pipes. If its not the water pump then maybe it is where the alternator mount thingie is on the water pipe on the top right hand side of the picture.
Maybe the mount has broken off, breaking the water pipe in the process.

Also, the top pipe in the pic is only sealed with an O ring where it goes into the housing, Ive had a few of them perish and leak

the alternator tensioner is mounted to the cast pipe out let on the far right hand side of that picture,
there is a gasket behind that, and an oring seals the small pipe that comes out of it and runs across the back of the engine.
