Mybad - got Carbs and Cams (Twin) round the wrong way, and info was wrong, sorry

Re Clutch - its a whole clutch job!
Clutch appears to be slipping so my garage recommended a clutch replacement which is around 6 hours work and $$$.

Can you recommend another clutch system or shld I just stick with the standard?

Thanks

Replace with a standard OEM replacement.

Are you asking if you can have your cams tweaked? If so, the short answer is no.

Not really a lot that needs doing when you replace the clutch. New clutch, release bearing, machined flywheel and thats about it. Fresh trans fluid if you want and a rear main seal you might as well do if its getting on in kms. You probably wouldn't want to have to get gearbox, clutch and flywheel all removed again just for that seal if it starts leaking.

Your mechanic is pretty toast if he is quoting 6 hours for a clutch in a bloody corolla...Thats almost an engine swap

Job is about 4.5 to 5 hours and cost around six hundred.
New clutch, release bearing and machine flywheel with Clutch fluid.
1st time paying for a clutch job and not sure if this is a reasonable price.

Yea, years ago I was quoted about 6 hundie from toyota for my levin clutch to be done, so that sounds about right. ...I ended up getting done by g'friends dads mate for $200...now I'd only do it myself (but thats going offtopic).

Im pretty sure that clutch fluid would come under consumables, and most suppliers of clutches while machine the fly wheel for free. (trade places not repco and other retailers)

Also get your rear main seal done as if it starts leaking after the job is done that will double your cost for replacement.

I would expect upto probably $500 for the job but 6 is over the top

If I can get the replacement parts, will you have spare time to do a Corolla clutch next month?

At the moment im pretty busy with my ethics work for my masters & repairing vehicles on the side for a mate so dont know if I would fit it in sorry bro.
There were afew others on here who did cheep jobs on cars, id imagine you could get the parts from trade parts for about $150ish and perhaps someone would do it for around 1-150ish?
or- get some beers and see if a group would do it!- more hands make faster work...usually...
If you get mega stuck pm me in a month to check on how busy I am.
Mike
