Mr2, Window washer button stuck in? Blown Fuse etc? *URGENT*

Postby CozmoNz » Wed Apr 27, 2005 1:38 am

Aiight, tonite heading home, i thought we were low on window washer fluid, so i did the usual *push the button* to find out.

this time the button got stuck in.... :S

im like argh! crap! the wipers went up and down once or twice, i pulled over (luckly outside my house) and the wipers stayed up... i turned the car off, turned off the turbo timer etc, waited... as we tryed to *pull* the button back out (thought that was the problem).

now, we ran inside grabbed a bottle of water, and chucked it down the reso... (just incase the pump goes wild), so anyway, i do a quick search on the net / forums, bring up the Mr2 manual, and find *if wipers do not go back to origional position, replace fuse*.

goodo, replace the fuse, EASY PEASY.

(yes i know how to replace a bloody fuse).

i pop the bonnit (12pm at night remember, pitch black), and check the lid... nothing about a wiper, so i jump under the cover (this took another 10 minutes to even get this far, and my fingers STILL hurt)... stupid plastic thing.... anyway, a quick inspection says *none* of the top left / right, bottom left / bottom right are blown (can remove and check them lol), however i dont actualy know what im looking for.

questions:

A), Do mr2's have a *safety* measure, were they *stick* the button, on the leaver for the wipers? (window washer button)
B), Where is this fuse? Yes, i looked in the engine bay, and the hood, nothing about a *washer*, or *wiper* fuse, is there another fuse box somewhere?
C), should i just give up and take it to a toyota dealership, seems like such a small problem.
D), anyone know of anything like this happening?

me and the gf are taking the Uno to her house now (instead of the mr2 obvoiusly), so ill begin *hitting it*, sorry, fixing it, in the morn.

please, any ideas? please all post up any ideas, so i can check again in the morning!

Fuse is in the cabin behind the drivers side kick panel.

Haha, found that now ^_^.

3 fuse boxes, those commy bastards!

so anyway, replaced the fuse, and the motor just runs... so it seems its *Not* ment to do that ^_^. Tryed pulling the button out, but seems the spring is either gone, or not working....

so its a new leaver assembly for me! (wonder how muchz0r they cost)

note - e-mail sent to mr revhead.

Knowing Toyota, you'll have to buy the entire indicator/wiper assembly
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!

well, seems i need a new leaver.

$480odd from toyota (quote from cookies) still waiting for a quote from revhead.

and $145 from a wrecker (for the hole unit), wiper leaver, central item and indicator unit.

toyota will do the swap, incase i cut some yellow wires ;).

Its a sealed unit... ie - you cant open it.

toyota seem to only be able to buy that one unit, no peices inside it etc. so thats my only choice.

the spring has jumped off its *sitting* position... all i can do is riggle the thing... thats it :S

so ill just install a new one (get them to), it rquires 2 screws, but if i hit something... and something goes wrong, its a very very expensive job.

I'll fix the current unit, you take it out and give it to me and I can't see why not...

There's no such thing as a sealed unit, it had to be put together somehow...

It sounds like you have bought a lemon.

Tell ya what. Since I feel sorry for ya, I'll take it off your hands for a reasonable price. :)
