silvertop extractors onto 4afe

Postby the fallen303 » Wed Apr 27, 2005 2:33 pm

hey, i've got an 1993 ae101 5 door lift back corolla, nz new, with a 4afe. i've just recently got some silvertop extractors complete with both parts (4-2 and the 2-1). what i'm wondering is will it bolt straight in? or will i have to get the tail end modified to suit my exhaust? everything in the exhaust is factory, nothing changed. i will have to get a plate made for where the O2 sensor goes, as my engine doesn't have one. the flange already has the holes drilled to suit a 16v head.

any ideas?

No it won't bolt up. The exhaust port pattern is different. Find some 7afe extractors that use a similar 4>2>1 design. They will bolt straight up to the silvertop secondaries and your head.

Alternatively to patching up the O2 sensor hole you can just find an old sensor and bolt it in. Just don't cut the wires or tie them up somehow.

From memory, exhaust ports 2 and 3 line up with silvertop extractors but ports 1 and 4 are to wide (on the extractors).

I have heard of some people having the manifolds modified but IMHO it isn't really worth the effort.

If you really want extractors just go to a toyota wreckers and see what they have in stock from the 7afe.

i have done this on my nz101 sedan. some later model ae111 4afe engines have the same extractor style headers as the 20v, 20 to 16 i wouldnt bother trying to make that work. get the late model 4-2 examples, then i used a regular 101 20v 2into1 section with the flexi which bolts straight up and then i custom made from the flange back.
have swapped to a blacktop 20v now and only used the 4-2 section from the blacktop and all bolted up again, piece of piss
currently beating - AE101 Sedan, blacktop/6spd, tein coilovers, braided lines, cup holder, and every other bloody thing possible.
