AE111 making high pitched noise after start up

Postby gary_l » Tue May 03, 2005 3:21 pm

Hi guys. I've been hearing this high pithced noise coming from the engine after start up. Can't describe exactly how the noise is like but it's high pitched, squeaky and sounds like something's turning. It goes away after i've driven around for a while.

what in the world might be causing that irritating noise? Any idea?

It's possibly an accessory belt slipping, check the tension on the belts to the alternator, power steering and ac.

Push on them and they shouldn't deflect any more than 1cm, if its more than that you'll need to adjust them.

Sucks to be south island paying $25 for a tinny

Without hearing it, its pretty hard to make an educated guess...hell, could even be a clutch bearing

starter motor takes current

driving means revs go up....

revs go up means alt charges...

current is replaced... WHAMO alt stops / slows charging. noise goes away.

its the bloody alt belt >.> if its not, cozmo dosnt get his tinny, k?

could be bearings. They caused my belt to go compleatly mental as in the "V's" of the belt accualy got smaler as it went across hard to explane.....made a very irratating noise tho took ages to fix as couldnt figure it out.

v belts do not need to be increadbly tight. if your cam belt i loose well you may have bigger issues than a noise.
