Based on what? All the quality metals and lack of cheap plastics, not to mention style, class, design...???

Reliability, rust(not saying newer cars wont one day), fuel economy, comfort, availability of new parts, the list goes on. I guess to some respect those qualities give them character, just not really my thing aye. Like seeing them around but would never want to own one.

You put reliability at number one, when you are making a comparison against cars that are 25 + years old and still going strong??? :?

New cars won't rust, but thats because they are made entirely out of cheap rubbish plastic...

Both new and old school have as many good points, as they have bad against each other. What it comes down to, is an old school car has withstood the test of time, and newer cars just can't claim that for a few years, IF they make it, and that is a big IF...

By reliability i mean the cold starts on a winter morning stuff like that. Sorry should have been more clear. Your quite right in most cases those engines go for 300+k with no probs.

No new cars wont last as long in this disposible market place we now live in. Still just prefer them. and thats all the poll is at the end of the day personal prefrence.

(edited cos i cant type and forget to put bits in)

I used to have a 1971 Jaguar XJ6, Series I with a Chev 350 small block V8.
It had chrome bumpers, was big and sexy. It oozed style. I loved that car.

My mum had a 1977 Porsche 911.
It had no power steering and manual windows, awesome car.

I have a 1990 SW20 MR2.
What can I say? I love the car.

In short: Oldschool, love 'em. Newschool, love 'em.

Broaden your horizons! :D
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

lol....

when my son is old enough to get his restricted,

actually I wont list all the cars around which are new now and will be "fully old skool"

as even funnier. there will be no petrol left in 2021 (apparently)

considering he's not born yet thats not worrying him tho!

How old exactly does a car have to be to be considered old school?
While I have grown more fond of the older cars as I have gotten older I do appreciate that I probably wouldn't die as easily in a newer car due to the safety standards etc that are engineered into them these days.

Its up to the individual really to define 'old school', but generally I would consider it pre 1980's or around that time.
