Postby rollas22 » Mon May 09, 2005 10:07 pm

After getting a new battery yesterday the car ran fine, started 1st go every ime, untill this eening, drove for 5mins with lights on ad oticed the dash lighs getting dimmer, parked and turned off car. Went to start and it wouldt start, so i crash started it and it went fine untill the next stop, had to crash sart again, then my lights fully died...
Is this a ALTERNATOR problem??? or could it be something else??

Get it running and check the voltage at the battery. If its not over 13.5V then you're got a bit of an alternator problem. Chuck fusable links and so on as you might have blown something when putting the new battery in. Either that or the alternator is buggered or not plugged in

Not draining your battery.

Just not charging your battery after your lights ignition use the power from the battery.

Definitely sounds like an alternator related problem. Could just be getting worn out and need new bushes etc. They will be able to sort it out for ya.

That cracks me up its wasnt chargeing at all, lights just drain the battery quicker. My farm car goes for weeks on the batt with a stuffed alternator
