Sell the 1G and buy a 1JZ.
1G is a POS to start with and does not have much potential. Costs a hell of allot more to mod it aswell compared to a 1J to get the same sort of power figures.
1JZ to start with is a good strong motor and not very expensive to do a little modding here and there to get more horsies.
If your MKIII is an 89+ the 1JZ should bolt straight in as it has the round xmembers compared to the pre 89ers wich had the square xmembers.

that sounds like personal opinion to me rather than fact.
I think both engines are expensive to mod, once you have done all the straight forward mods (i/c, exhaust, intake, boost)
1ggte still has plenty of potential, and are just as reliable as the 1jz.
Depending on your budget, you may be better to stick with the 1ggte.
But mk3 supras are bloody heavy so id go 1uzfe. (but thats my opinion)
See the animal in his cage that you built. Are you sure what side you're on?

so you have done them both up and found out their maximum potential?
Not wanting to start an arguement, but i think 1ggtes are very under rated, and have a lot to offer.
i could dig up alot of links to high horsepower examples, but i dont have time at the moment.

No I have not pushed either of them to their fullest potential.
What I am suggesting is that the 1JZ would be a better base to start off with. Put them both next to each other stock to stock you can clearly feel the difference in performance.
I know of 1Gs getting up in the high HP marks but they require alot more work than a 1J would.[/i]

unrelated to horsepower, but still worth mentioning

How do you mean more work? There is a stock internalled 1GGTE powered TA22 on Autospeed running 10's with a single turbo, it has the same mods you would need to make a high Hp 1JZ ie. injectors ecu & single turbo.
The 1GGTE is one of the most under-rated Toyota engines ever built! So what if the stock stuff stuck to the side of it wasn't very good.
I've got a supra with a 1ggte in it and I'm making 205kw at the wheels and 980nm of tourqe.to get that I'e done custom intake manifold, custom exhaust manifoldto run a ct26,front mount intercooler custom blow off valve bigger injectors, rising rate fuel pressure, walbro fuel pump, link computer.I'm currently fitting a external wastegate due to boost problemsand rebuilding the turbo with a garret compressor wheel hoping for atleast 250kw.I think iwas getting around 140kw before I did these mods, and from what i've found out thats about the limit on the factory turbos.
Nah thats about right, because the gearbox multiplies torque.
I figure, noone says the 4A-GEU is shit and you can't get any power out of it, well guess what, the 1G-GTEU is just a 4A-GEU with 2 more cylinders, it features the yamaha cylinder head and everything.
Also the RB20(DET) this is a 2L, but people seem to get lots of power out of that, I mean cripes, whats up with that.
