4agze in AE82

Postby dreama » Thu May 26, 2005 4:03 pm

Hey just wondering how hard this is. I know it will bolt in easily enuf, my questions are:
- Will the standard fueling system (i.e. fuel pump, tank, fuel lines) be ok with a standard engine.
- Will there be any wiring issues if i get just a standad ZE computer
- Will a new exhaust system be required or can i just have the flanges lengths changed so pipes meet extractors

Any help on these questions will be appreciated. And before anyone asks not to interested in making the engine more powerful would rather keep reasonably standard i.e. exhaust airfilter type mods. As this car will just be a run about.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Fuel System im not sure about, but i would think you'd want to take care of this with standard GZE items to ensure its reliable..

There will be wiring issues as you need weed out your engine loom out of the rest of the loom, also you'll need to locate and hook up things like oil, alternator checklights etc also rev counter... so there is still a bit of work to do, even with the standard GZE computer.

Depending on how much of the ZE exhaust manifold and downpipe you can get your hands on will determine where you can reattach the downpipe to your standard exhaust. It will run fine... but probably not as well as it could

O yea i understand all that but in a lot of cases you have to change plugs etc... to get things to fit.

Ive also been told to watch out for alternator locations etc... will i have to move any stuff so it will fit correctly????

As far as i know you dont need to move anything if you are using the ZE alternator.

Yes i kno there is no tunnel, but couldnt think of better way to describe wat i was trying to say. Will it fit? using all the standard parts? Obviously not the slaves, cables, etc... but will the mounts etc... be fine?

Just trying to way up options between putting in supercharged engine or justing turboing the standard bluetop (and maybe later putting in the LSD gearbox)

Crossmember will have to be modified to fit the gze box, and if you use a later model gze with the DLI your factory tacho wont read the revs properly (aparently)

you will need the ze wiring loom , and replace the one in the car with it. you cannot just plug the ze computer in and run it, the ecu pin outs are different,

you can easily fit and run the ze lsd box, but you need the ze cv's driveshafts and hubs, ae they are bigger.

Thanks for all the info THA SHIZ may get in touch with you if i decide to go ahead with the idea.

Yea there is a prob with the tacho wiring my friend had the swap done into an AE92 out at boostd performance and its never been able to show revs at all. He was told he'd need to some kind of current converter or something????

Any ideas on just turboing the standard engine
