Will a T50 bolt up with a GZE clutch?

Postby Lloyd » Sun May 29, 2005 7:44 pm

Hey people, just trying to plan a few things.

If I was to get a T50 then you it fit up into the GZE clutch? Would the T50 be the recommended box of choice to go behind a forced induction 4AGE? And does the T50/otherrecommendedbox fit comfortably in the tunnel of a manual KE20?

if you are running a T-50 , i would strongly recommend replacing the bearings.
the cast W-50 would handle the extra power better as they have been fitted to straight 6's and V8s.

to fit it up you will need a custom friction plate
pm ezy 10's he can help with that

w55 is the box of choice and then you can just use a gze clutch setup :D

So I'm to go on the hunt for a W55 aye..... I'm guessing I'll have to find a 4AGE bell housing to bolt up to it? What were the W55s on originally?

Sorry, I'm a bit new to screwing around with gearboxes :P

I've got a mate with a couple of T50s but no bellhousings so finding the boxes isn't the problem.

I thought that the GZE flywheel would not fit into the T50 bellhousing,

and using the GZE clutch requires the GZE flywheel?

And the T50 wont last long with a forced induction 4AGE.

W55 is the way.

Yeah, been having a bit of a read up and it seems that the GZE clutch assembly is a little big to fit in the T50 without modification. Looks like a W series will be the way to go. Dont suppose anyone has a bellhousing spare? :D

Oh, what sort of difference are there between the W50 and W55 etc? Cheers

W50 is the steel case boxthat was behind old celicas and coronas etc its not what your after the 4age bellhousing wont bolt to one if those. W55,7,8 is what your after out of the cars listed above just watch out for different shifter positions. They're pretty cheap if you look around I wouldnt pay more than $250 for a W55 as you can pick up whole cars with 55's for that sometimes
