Postby RickGT » Thu May 05, 2005 11:42 pm

any help on exhaust setups on my fx-gt would be great, i was thinking 2.25" pipe with a super large coby, then a stainless tip which is same size and stlye as a coby but just stainless??? any good?
would removing the cat be any help, im afraid that its going to be to loud, thats y i was thinking of leaving the cat in there

If you don't want to remove the cat, at least get it replaced. With the age of your car, if its still running the factory cat converter, it will be clogged and gummy, and probably more of a restriction than anything else in your exhaust. Freeing up the exhaust will help heaps.

You're on the right track with the 2.25" pipe (don't need any bigger than that unless going forced induction), through to resonator and muffler, but you might wanna consider two resonators to quieten the famous 4AGE "twang".

With that set up your car should perform a little bit better (removing the cat), and sound nice (2 x resonators).

Good luck :)

my 93 has a press bent 2.5" with over a metre of resonators and straight thru stainless boynut muffler which i have to swap with another bolt on cooper style one at the back to just get a WOF. its sounds mint but have learnt that shiney cannons do nothing but shine and grind away on our roads. Ditch cat, 2 cobys and big can on the back sounds mint, loud as without the 100kph drone, and another crap bolt on to keep the Wof man happy, i just got a 2bolt flange about where the axle line is

take out the cat and put a straight pipe through. ae92 have a good size pipe anyway.

used this for groupn rally.
If it aint broke, help it along.

To go fast is fine, to look good is ok, but only a fool tries to do both at the same time.
