low boost on 3sge?

Postby Liloss » Wed Jun 01, 2005 10:24 am

i was reading a email list on the net last night and they were discussing a low boost set-up on a 3sge of around 7psi. would a 3sge handle 7psi? i know the obvious is buy a 3sgte but for $1500?!

what would i need to do for fuel needs?

cheers

Don't forget if you're going to turbo a 3SGE, you still need to worry about buying the turbo, intercooler, manifold, fuel regulator etc etc. It would be easier and definitely cheaper to buy yourself a 3SGTE with everything already attached.

Yeh. While it is a great idea (and a pretty rare one at that), it has been done before, and almost every time, the person in question has said afterwards that it would have been a better idea to go whole hog. Then again, the same people also say they would have been better off buying a whole GT Four to start with.

*shrug*

At the end of the day, its your car and your wallet, so you should do exactly what you want with it :D

many years ago, there was talk of an sw20 beating 3sge turbo powered st162 in the works.

we are still waiting.

do it once and do it right.

Its far easier in the long run

Think about it this way. If you use a 3sge, you can start out with 6 pounds of boost. Which will be enough to satisfy you for a while... But eventually you are gonna want to crank it up a bit.
Which is what you CANT do if you decide to boost a 3sge.

3sgtes are so cheap these days! I saw a crashed 3sgte sw20 for $1200. Chickenman got his sw20 turbo for cheap as chips too! So its not worth altering a 3sge, when an entire donor car can be had for so cheap.
