yet another wiring problem: Digital clock

Postby gordon77 » Wed Jun 01, 2005 7:30 pm

hey ppl installed a new head unit in the weekend :) - blew the fuse but didnt know so when i went to test which wires had constant 12v and which ones had switched i couldnt find anything 8) ran a seperate lead from the battery for constant and replaced the fuse and used a (one that didnt work but due to fuse replacement works now) wire for switched 12v.

now my clock doesnt work at all (i left some wires just cut and not connected to anything). it used to start at 1:00 when i started the car but now it doesnt go at all :(

my question: would those wires i cut and didnt connect to the headunit be vital to the clock working??? if so how did it used to work, just not remember the time??? aaand where should they be connected to.

car is 1991 fxgt AE92

p.s: have checked all fuses related to the dashboard working and they are all fine

sounds like those wires you cut and left could be causing the dome fuse as stated above to blow. you may want to insulate those unused wires and check the fuse
want a ae86, dont want to pay 8 grand for one
have to settle for my ae92
