Fixing door locks

Postby Lanius » Thu Jun 02, 2005 5:41 pm

GF's car has locks that are *stuffed*. She's having trouble even opening her driver's door with the key now, and the passenger door lock was wrecked a while back by some would-be thieves.

Anyone know a good / cheap place to get new / replacement locks? Its for a Mazda MX6 btw ...

Thanks in advance :)

...or you could do what I did in that situation. Shave the locks all together and use remote locking. I've had enough of fu*king thieves so I've got no locks to bust, fully electronic.

theres not many cheap options for broken key locks.. need to get 2nd hand locks from your local wreckers or new ones and get them fitted to your key by a locksmith.. on the other hand as mentoned above you could put remote locking in. not hard to do yourself if you have basic mechanical and electrical experience.
want a ae86, dont want to pay 8 grand for one
have to settle for my ae92

Yer, she's got central + remote locking, but her cars a P.O.S. (its a Mazda, what can I say *shrug*), and the alarm doesn't even work properly anymore.

I've been trying to get her to sell it for f*cking ages now, and I'm hoping that once she fixes the locks she'll sell it for good.

Cheers for replies so far :)
