Blitz Blow Off Valve - ST185

Postby FoRsaKeN » Tue Jun 14, 2005 3:09 pm

Hey there,
Just wondering if anyone has put in the Blitz bloe off valve that is made especially for the st185 GT4.
And if so, did any welding or custom work need to be done to the standard Intercooler???

Thanks

I didn't know there were any BOV's specially made for gt4s? I would have to say that there is most likely no way of fitting a BOV without modifying the intercooler. On an st165 the turbo-intercooler rubber joiner is large enough that you can make a small pipe and come off that for the BOV, but on a st185 the gaps between turbo and intercooler and so small (less than 1cm I believe), you really will have to weld to the IC.

i hav just fitted a bov to my 89 gt4 2day, i drilled a hole in the intercooler right up against the the actual intercooler in the fitting tube and made a flange with a pipe on it,

if someone can tell me how to post pic, i will post a pic so you can see what i mean

Yea, i know what you mean with spacing of the intercooler!!!
I'm starting to see that there is no easy way of getting a BOV on st185's without some custom work, or whacking a front mount on it.... but that jst costs more money! lol

Anyone now how much and where's a good place for the top mount to front mount change??

Um, Saw that blitz BOV here... http://www.blitz-na.com/Blitz_Blowoff_DD.htm

well I got a front mount done on mine by ActionDan in Huntly a couple of years ago. Just used a vr4 intercooler, cost something like $750 for the front mount and intake piping. Now I would probably recommend going to evil_si because he is closer and does excellent work. One thing to note, however, is that with your stock front bumper you will have some difficulty fitting an intercooler in there. That's not to say it's impossible, just need to move some stuff around, or you could get a gt4 RC bumper+reinforcement, which makes it a lot easier to fit.
