driveshaft mating... any 1 done it?

im trying to c if i can mate my ke25 drive shaft to my t50 spline has anyone done this b4, first choice is cut and weld. i was thinking maybe i can push out the bearing caps and use either the t50 or the k40 UV joint by changing the bearing caps....... anyone done anything like this?

Only problem is you got to balance it afterwise, has to spin perfectly.

Whats the differance in an auto/manual driveshaft in the GA/MA-70 supras? is it the spline count or is it the length?

for under $200 i had one made up. i supplied the 2 ends, told them the length between the end of the gearbox and face of diff input, and 3 hours later had one,
when i had the one for my batty done i supplied the auto d/shaft, and manual yoke along with the measurements, and for $80 they cut welded and balanced,

Hmm, when my old flatmate took his cut and welded driveshaft for a wof, they failed it, he was told it needed cert, so he went to another workshop, they told him the same thing, so maybe the key here is to get it to look factory without messy welds everywhere?

As evil_si said, its so easy and cheap to get it done properly that its crazy to try and do it yourself, I have tried boogying up driveshafts myself and even if you do manage to get it straight you could spend a year adding hoseclips to it and never get it balance! Its not even worth wasting the mig wire to try and cut and weld your own.
If the yoke and driveshaft do have the same unis then you can just change the yoke over (please use a new uni if you're doing this!), i don't know about your combo, you might be lucky and get away with it.
Driveshafts are one of those things where its worth just getting it right even if it a bit expensive.

exactly, it is a critical part, im sure io can do it myself, aligning something isnt hard, and i know i can weld it up, but id dont have a rotational lathe that you can weld in, its cheaper safer and easier to measure it and go to a pro,

have you seen the damage done by a d/shaft that comes apart.??
i have and i know i would want to be responsible for that damage...

no havent seen the damage personally but its not hard to imagine attacking the under side of the car with a helicopter sweet as will just get shaft cut and welded at the engineers,

just use 4age cam covers, and put LTD stickers on the back, argue that its a hybrid 2 4ages stuck together, 3.2 litre, wof guys are terribly retarded, im sure theyd pass it!

I've had heaps of trouble playing with unis on ae86 driveshafts most you find are non replaceable. I ended up moding it to take a circlipped in uni could play around trying that

ordered my new UV and bearing caps today be here tomoro for al the safety concious out there, will just have shaft welded and balanced sweet as.
on the other topic that UW11 will be a killer, what gearbox are u using?
