T-series diff into KP60

Postby Hachiroku » Mon Jul 04, 2005 9:41 pm

Hey there, just looking at the possibility of using a drum brake T-series diff in a starlet. What modifications are necessary to do this? I have access to a welder etc. I'm thinking about a 4age conversion and want a diff that's stronger than a k-series but cheaper than a disc brake T-series. Thanks

it would depend if you want to run it as the 5-link set-up as per the diff, or the 4-link set-up as per the starlet. it is something me and Chang are looking to put into the KP 60 club car as the 4ag has already killed a diff( diff may have been on the out, though). as it isn't road registered, i'm thinking along the lines of putting the equal length trailing rods with panhard.

you would need to go to a FWD offset wheel or open the guards up a bit due to the extra width.

TE71 corolla (not GT, they've got discs), heaps of old corona's, celica's etc. Isn't tt14x IRS? And how tricky is it to shorten a diff?

yes, i was jumping the gun there. the diff we are probably using is in fact an 'S' from TE71 2T pushrod , not the 'T' from the 2TG version. same dimensions except the diff head size.
