Auto Levin not changing gears!?!

Postby F360 » Thu Jul 07, 2005 6:56 pm

Got a 1997 Auto Levin which seems to have trouble going to second gear sometimes. It mainly occours the first time you drive the car each day.

instead of clicking into second it will rev high causing me to slow down, then waiting for it to change. (of if it doesnt , pullover)

Any advice would be awsome.
Thanks

Thermostat?

Doesnt that effect the auto box via the ECU somehow?
Something to do with the Engines temp ie when when its cold or the first time it does it.

if the levels etc end up looking ok, there are some additives you can put in which help a lot. The best one, cant recall the name at the moment, I have not seen in any shops, but the supplier sells to dealers for cars they get with probs. If you dont sort it, ask me then and I will find out what its called (brain shutting down for week)

there should be a filter in the auto trans sump. you have to remove the sump to get to it.

no point just changing the atf if you dont change the filter.

when you changed the fluid what was the colour / condition.
bright red
brown
dark brown
what did it smell like? burnt?

there are transmission shops and garages that flush the system, to make sure there is no shit blocking it.

as said above, I would try fresh fluid and filter first, but, the product I was talking about is called 'shudder fix'. Comes in a small red tube. Im not sure if its availabe in any shops, but a lot of dealerships use it in their vehicles which may suffer from a bit of flairing. My mates old work used to order it through someone. Ive experienced it used, and it made a massive difference. But yea, best to try with fresh fluid and filter first.
