$600 Budget.....What to get?

Postby MINTFX » Sun Jul 10, 2005 6:46 pm

As the title says, My sister has given me $600 to find her a headunit, sub and amp. Ive done some hunting on trademe and looked on parallelimported.co.nz but cant seem to find anything that fits into the budget. Just wondering if someone could give me some help with this. Im not too fussed if its a cheap amp. 10" Sub preferred but if 12" is cheaper that would be sweet! Any comments would be wicked!

Ive got all that forsale, but its probably a bit higher end gear then what you would be looking that. 4channel caliber amp (4X90WRMS tested and proved), and a digital designs 2010, 10inch sub in box. I would be wanting 600 for this, plus i could throw in my cdplayer for another 250. Its worth it!

Yea I did have a look at your thread but $650 or $700 would be the ultra max as I am on a hella tight budget!

Doing some more looking I found these and thought they werent too bad! Here they are:

Rockford Fosgate P112S4 12" Sub - $120 (Ill get my mate to make a box)
Pioneer DEH-P5750MP - $300 Basic..... Mp3, 50w x4 etc

Still on the hunt for an amp..... I looked at this:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 634644.htm
But the price ma break the budget. Are any of those cheaper NRN or other unheard brands reasonable enough?

Looks like ive started answering my own question  but I would still like some comments on my choices. Cheers!

The ad says it's rated to deliver 150rms @ 2ohms. I would ask a few Qs first.
You could run this sub, which is only $200 new, and it's a reputable brand.

About the first link I posted - you can see a small repair on the rubber surround at the bottom (I think it's a repair) It would be wise to ask what kind of work it has had.

Unless you want to run speakers off the amp aswell, you should just get a 2ch amp for cheaper, and bridge it into the sub.

And dont be too afraid of buying 2nd hand amps, theres crap all to go wrong with them really

hes right with the 4channel. if or when he was going to amp speakers, its best to amp the front ones, rear fill isnt all that great.

Well I was planning on amping the rear 6x9s and getting some front components in the near future and amping those and just put the 6x9s on the headunit. So yea there is a method to my madness :D

i'd advice a basic pioneer deck. they look a lot nicer and you'll get much better sound.
