silvertop 20v temp sensor issue

Postby terrytuffguy » Sat Jul 16, 2005 1:32 pm

I have a feeling my ECU temp sensor is a bit bung due to the water temp having to be right up to full temp before the revs drop below 1000rpm, is this just another typical 20v problem?

Also just wondering if it's normal that the revs can still float around 1200rpm when you first pull up at the lights, but soon drop down to 800rpm. (This is when at full temp)

cheers
My 4AG powered starlet puts out 227rwkw & 12.39 @ 115mph........ YEA RIGHT, Tui.

20valves have 2 water temperature sensors 1 for gauge (1 wire) and another for ECU (2 wires). the "1200 rpm" is normal after a long drive at high speed.
if you are sure that car doesn't overheat, and you get high reading off gauge (unlikely) it is probably gauge sensor faulty (located behind the thermostat)
