GZE Pulley Supplier in NZ??

Postby Crucible » Sun Jul 17, 2005 12:24 pm

Hi Newbie here...I hope Im posting in the correct category?

Who supply pulley kits in NZ?... Ive been told the HKS kits are no longer available and Toyota are telling me to try Aussie suppliers (Nevo). Ive had a look at the Nevo pulleys on the site and noticed its one piece Alloy, hmmm Ive seen Al pulley keyways flogged out on M8s gtzeds, Im doing the upgrade thing on my GTZ and am after a 2 piece cast iron pulley with fabricated larger outer ring (through fact dampner)...Suppliers, Engineers..... prices?..I.....Im going with a 12pound kit.
I am also going with a front mount later on but not certain on what dia plumbing to use and intercooler size...Is bigger nessasarily better or will this cause excessive Lag?

Thanks in advance!

I'm new on this too. I might also be looking for one soon for my targa race car. But I need maximum reliability. What the recomendations here, type and size ? What's the benefit of the one piece v's 2 piece ?

I am going with the two piece cast pulley for a couple of reasons, Cast Iron is stronger than Alloy as i have seen alloy ones flog out keyways, And most cast ones still have the factory Dampner (With a fabricated outer/larger ring fitted).
The Dampner is very Important as it takes the stress or Harmonics out of the Crankshaft by leaving the outer ring behind on a power stroke, the ring then catches up on a non powerpulse - ie Dampning effect.
Im currently building a blown 429 ford and have been told by the Gurus that a good dampner is a must with any Blown Engine!, without it the front Main bearings will be highly stressed. The advantage of the one piece pulley is its not driving through a rubber ring...but Im gonna take my chances! Ive read that 14psi pulleys are pushin the limits with a sc-12 and high rpms can damage the teflon coating on the rotors...and as far as a 10 psi pulley goes well...whats the point?...Im going with a 12 psi kit!
