20V TPS issues

Postby Lloyd » Mon Jul 18, 2005 7:34 pm

Hey people, anyone ever put a 20V head on a GZE block with a turbo and had issues with the TPS (using the 20V TOS here as the GZE one spins the other way)?

With it plugged in there seems to be a fuel cut or something once positive pressure comes on. With it unplugged I can boost as high as the ECU can handle but then after a little while the engine cuts out and wont fire until the TPS is plugged back in.

Any ideas?

My first solution if possible would be to check the voltage of both the 20V & GZE TPS at both 100% closed throttle & 100% open throttle to make sure they are the same. I'd also check to make sure both are the same type i.e either switch type on/off or variable resistance in which case the voltage should scale from around 1v up to 4-5v. I doubt your problem is anything in the tps but more to do with the ecu seeing boost & the wrong TPS voltage. With the TPS unplugged the ecu sees no signal so works for a while until the diagnostics more than likely put it in Limp Home mode & cuts out.

Yeah, thats about what I figured. Just thought it might be a common problem :)

Dont have the GZE TPS anymore though which makes it hard to compare, fairly sure they were both variable tyres though. Might have to have a bit more of a play tomorrow

Cheers

Yeah I'm guessing it's reading boost & seeing that the throttle is fully closed. Does it only do it with the throttle near fully open to fully open or does it still do it with bugger all throttle opening.

Only cuts out on boost and I kinda have to have the throttle a fair way open as the turbo isn't small for the size motor. I'll check signal voltages and things tomorrow some time.
