Turn on all the elec accessories, lights heater and rear demister. Turn on ign and wait for about 5 sec's then start. If this stops it from starting then this is the problem.

According to this, only the 4age in the AW mr2 got a starter relay. What is the benefit of having this starter relay? The starter has its own power feed from the battery so if the contacts can be held closed from the ign feed, causing the starter to have power and try to start the car. then why would giving this feed more power help with starting?
