Hi, im building a speaker box but i want to use some wood with a nice grain (it wont be painted). Anyone to where to some nice wood in small amount get any in auckland?

Try building recyclers/salvage people.

My dad's currently building a pair of enclosures for his Coral Beta 10 wide range drivers, using recycled tawa as an outer shell.

But yeah, you can get the likes of rimu, oak etc. if need be. Otherwise, try a cabinetmaker or a joinery and use veneer to cover MDF.

Sorry, I'm not from Auckland, so don't know any places... but the yellow pages is always good!

go cut down some big $&#$% off native trees and use that :) just make sure no one is watching you!

could always use ply and stain it- probably the cheapest option for grained wood. Used it for my mini dash and stained in rimu, came up nice. Just plain ply's not so interesting though

if you can't find any nice lookin natives to chop, try finding a formica tree, and chop that, a lot more common :lol:

you could go to a joiner workshop and see if they have any offcuts that will suit your needs,
