TE71 or TE72 ?

Postby AE85.6 » Mon Jul 25, 2005 10:17 pm

a old mate of mine has a sister selling her car which i was gonna snap up but sadly another mate of mine has beaten me to purchase it, ive seen it before and was sure that it was a TE71 notch back sprinter, its in pretty good nick and has an lsd which was mainly why i was chasing it for a donor to my AE, anyways the guy who has bought it reckons it is a TE72 ? i didnt realise there was such a thing so iwas wandering what the differences were ???

i think it does have a slightly different nose on it and flasher than normal interrior also but i just thought that could be as it is in the last years of that model and could have been a jdm or facelift model or something ???

te72 has the 3tc motor - 1.8ltr, other than that, the cars are virtually the same as the te71 series, pretty sure they also have a slightly bigger diff..
the aussies call it a T-18 - so if you search that, you'l find info.

Have a look at the chassis plate, if it say TE71 it will be a 2T or 2TG originally. If it say TE72 it will originally have had a 3T in it.
