Whats involved in putting a 3t-gte into a ke70 wagon?

I could do the 4age route but a 3t-gte sounds quite appealing?

dx

Postby illicit » Thu Aug 04, 2005 7:24 pm

Why can't i call it a dx? more people know it by that name!

I know it's a ke70 and so do toyota people,but I still don't see a problem.

I tried the search function but was no use as i wasn't sitting and reading 38 pages that contained those terms.

Any way,back to topic.

you may also need to change your steering from rack'n'pinion to recirculating ball depending how much clearence you get with the engine, you will also need to change your clutch setup to hydraulic

Kool, I dont meen to get grumpy but it happens occasionally

I think it could be quite a good option depending on how hard the necessary parts are to get!

parts are easy enough..i know of at least 2 engines for sale, then just finding a g/box will be the hard part, and anything else you cant do.

if its older and still has steering box steering just use a TE71 crossmember or else get some engine mounts made up to suit

grab some struts from a TA61/TA63 etc. use the wagon springs and top hat, with the TA61 steering arm and theres your front brakes sorted (10 inch vented)

get the 3tgte out of wreck so you get the gearbox with it

you will need to set up the hydraulic clutch as well

bigger fuel lines and a high pressure fuel pump (and a surge tank setup would be a good idea)

you'll need a custom driveshaft and gearbox crossmember

Diff wise you could go for AE86 or TE71 and get the mounts setup for leaf spring or if you don't have much cash use a 10 bolt corona diff as they are just as strong and alot easier to find (but not disc brake)

or go nuts and do a hilux diff

a 3tgte will eat a t50 in not long. best option is to go with a w55 like my setup.
