Am thinking about buying an SW20 turbo.

Any tips on what to look for, what to avoid etc etc would be greatly appeciated.

Have to sell the nearly completed AE86 :( if anyone is interested. May have a buyer, but PM me if you are be keen.

Thanks Guys

So the Gen 2 only had bigger brakes, was it the gen 3 in 1993 that went to 245HP?

definitely try to get a gen 3 if you can afford it. Cost more but if you want to upgrade in the future, the gen 3 already has a lot of better parts on it (ie bigger injectors, better turbo, metal head gasket), and the suspension is important as I believe they changed the geometry on the back to improve handling, and they had factory Bilsteins.

Gen 2 also had wider rear tires and 15"s to clear the larger brakes.

StyToy: Thanks for asking, this thread is also useful to me as I get a SW20 turbo later on.

Try and nab one thats been taken care of, the engines are pretty bullet proof, but it wont matter shit all if you buy one thats had its balls ripped off daily.

if its leather interior, check the leather :) (duh), but yeh, pretty robust cars.

oh, and gen 3+ engine had a relocated oil filter too :) Which, makes oil changes oh, SOOOOO much easier.

dont gen 3+ ALL have lsds? where it was optional on 2 and none in 1? *stares at al... mr oh so fast no lsd aye*

oh, and get ready to be called a hairdresser ;)
