just a quick reply regarding the turbo.
There is a Series 4 RX7 turbo on trademe
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Performance/Turbos/auction-33029650.htm
with a buy now of $150, same price I paid for my one on my white car.
Pretty good turbos according to people who have used them on
4ages before. However you may want to look into fitting a RB20
exhaust housing since the factory housing on that turbo is considerably
larger and combined with the already large exhaust wheel would
be very laggy on a 1.6L engine.

either what warwick said, or just run a m10/ t25/t28, 8psi, stock ecu, theres a few tricks you can do with the fuel and unleash the awesome 4age power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

id be careful running that much boost on the 20v compression, especially with the stock ecu
a stock 20v needs the timing backed off to run our fuel as it is....

revhead was closest..to do it properly

standard gze bottom end
silvertop head
gtz gbox and driveshafts and some sort of lsd
choice of turbo.. tdo4,t25,t3 or if more power is the goal, tdo5,t28,vf24 or one em rx7 ones plus you'll need a manifold made up+intercooler+piping
aftermarket ecu
bigger fuelpump+injectors
it'll need to be tuned, standard gze bottom end are damn solid , are happy to run up to 20psi

its not cheap if you cant it yourself but all that said and done could net you just over 200kw atw depending on choice of turbo and tuning

cheapest way to do it is start with a 20v, 4agzes are waaaaay overpriced.
swap the pistons, and you have a ze bottom end anyway. fresh one too

also the stock "c" series box can actually handle some grunt. 250hp is one figure iv heard. certainly a hot 20v turbo will kill one, but look at what youll be making, and how youll use it to decide if its worth it.
also the "c" box has closer ratios....

thats true warrick.. i think mine will clear 100km in 2nd revving it out past 8g on the gtz box.. cost of doing would depend on how much you could do yourself.. a person with moderate welding skills and good at sourcing the parts could do it very cheaply :)

hmmm true, the comp is quite high, but would be an easy exercise to test out, and shouldnt be too bad, maybe a powerlink or similar would be a good idea

Powerlink would be a good option. As for the turbo, t3/t4 8)
