Some of the gze boxes have lsd's. But the added weight makes the benefits of fitting one debatable.
Some of the glanza boxes had them but they are viscous lsd's

Ive heard the celica boxes fit so maybe look into that.

celica and gtz boxes are "e" series, the starship has a "c" series like the ae82-ae101 non s/c corolla/levins etc. "e" lsd will not fit a "c"

i beleive the stock ones are viscous though, which maynot fit the stock casings. however with some mixing and matching i think it can be done.
youll need to budget for a gearbox rebuild as there no point having it all apart and not rebuilding it!

the simplest option is to try and get a c56 box from a bz-v levin as these has lsd stock. again viscous type

thats the levin bz-v, trans code c-56 with a coupla other digits after that, your looking for one that ends in a "C" as oppoesd to an "A"

By turning the driveshafts as described above. If the other driveshaft turns the same way or not at all then its lsd. I think the glanza lsd boxes have an external fluid resivour or something.
Should be a bit of info in some of the old posts if you do a search

factory starlet lsd box wont work. case is diffrent for the lsd and pretty sure they run diffrent axles.. shorter than non lsd box. along with diffrent mounting points on the box and e series bell housing, its not gonna happen on your ae82.

buy a trd lsd :D

i was told by toyota that the lsd its self in the starlet is the identical part to the trd lsd for a ae82 box is this not the case ???

ahh who told you that?? the stock starlet one is viscous, the TRD one is either helical or clutch pack type.

ah well either there was a misunderstanding.
or you were talking to a muppet
maybe they thought you meant the TRD ones cause some of them fit both
