GT-T Towing capabilities

Postby UTERUS » Tue Aug 16, 2005 8:27 pm

does anyone know the towing capabilities of a braked trailer for a gtt caldina? does it have a section in the owners manual?
It is a myth that emos are contagious, and you may be infected. However, it is still widely accepted to wash your hands after physical contact

Probably not enough to make a braked trailer justified. Towing guidelines (incase you can't find factory ratings) are 0.75 x weight of vehicle for unbraked and 1.5 x weight of vehicle for braked. Must also be able to stop in 7m from 35?kph I think it is. Factory ratings are usually a fair bit lower than this and could cause problems with insurance in an accident if you exceed them.

you are actually allowed to exceed factory towbar ratings as long as your piece can drag it up within 7m @ 30k's. trailers grossing out over 2 ton must have brakes, or a mint headwind and flat tyre combo!
this was ltsa's spec sheet 18mths ago, my corolla can just handle towing 2ton, so your gt should be fine
currently beating - AE101 Sedan, blacktop/6spd, tein coilovers, braided lines, cup holder, and every other bloody thing possible.

GT-T's dont like towing much tho....

i towed a trailer with a v6 2.5L VR4 legnum TT motor on it and the car was on boost just about the whole way!

when i moved and had a trailer load of shit behind me she used up a fair amount of gas as well!

Factory ratings CAN be used to decline insurance claims, trust me I've seen it happen.
