Rod Bolts

Hey all, just trying to make a decision at the moment, ive got my 2e-t in bits doing a rebuild, i was thinkin bout replacing the rod bolts, the guy at the rebuilders said that it was unnessasiry tho, only prob is that they only rod bolts i can find are genuine ones and are ex japan, what should i do?

I doubt ARP would make bolts for 2E.
We've never associated these bolts with having a weakness. Your engine builder clearly doesn't either. Go with what you've got - or wait the 3 weeks.

the whole "e" series range uses the same bolts, including the 4efte.
id be very suprised if they didnt have a bolt that would fit.
weather or not they are in stock in nz is another question.....

id say it all depends on what your going to use the engine for, and how many times those rods have been in and out

ARP make them for the 4efte but its a special order apparently.

Well the motor had 148kms on it and ill pulled it out cause of a blown head gasket and one of the oil rings was a big shaged. I was told by a few guys at work that it is a really good idea to change them, ill get hold of toyota 2moro and see if there are any in the country, which i seriously doubt!!!!
