Where to put a sub in a supra?

Postby SIKTOY » Wed Aug 24, 2005 6:27 pm

Couldnt find anything in the search section so here goes.

As the topic says, my cousin just bout a supra on inpulse and didnt realise it had a boot with F&*k all room.

Hes got a decent sized sub in a reasonably small box but it definately wont fit in there.

Anyone got/had/installed a sub in a supra?

ANY ideas would be helpfull.

I dont have any dimensions and hes not very good at custom work either.

Cheers everyone.

Thanks, ill look into that.

Yea I know it isnt that diffucult but he wont be assed making a box to fit or anything like that. Hell probably try to find some rangi way of fitting the box hes already got in there. Like in the tyre well or on the back seat etc.

has anyone got/had/installed a full sized multifit box anywhere in their supra?
(Just the general sort you get from repco etc.)

Cheers

1. general boxes from repco suck. They are made of fibreboard and aren't exactly ideal..
2. if your cousin likes his car and wants to make suitable upgrades then why would he skimp on a decent box for his sounds? kinda defeats the purpose of installing good sounds.

what stereo equipment does he already have??

Its a SZ-R Supra.
96, white, stock as a rock (17"s stock)
Looks good!!!

I know the repco boxes are crap, I told him so but hes not too onto it when it comes to cars. All he knows is if it looks good, sounds loud and goes fast he wants one.
He hasnt got much money but still wastes heaps on cars unnecessarily. Hes a bit of a lost cause.

His sounds are:
1x pioneer 750W RMS DVC 12" (TSW120SPL)
1x Sony 900W RMS amp (XMD1000)
He is selling his MP3 headdeck and Sony 6"s with his car.
So he'll be geting a new headdeck and probably keeping the factory speakers or maybe upgrading.

Hes not too fussed with sound quality, he just wants loud music and bass and lots of it. He cranks it up to distortion and doesnt even notice.

Really what I wanted to know is; is there any place where a sub box can be placed that will not load the sub too much or look really rangi.

If there isnt ill tell him so, and leave it up to him to sort out what he wants to do. Its his money, I just hate seeing him ruin nice cars by doing rangi mods.

Thanks

Make a fibreglass mold of the boot lining, make it so you can get it out and doesnt obstruct any moving parts then put a mdf piece on the front for the sub to mount onto. If you want to use all fibre glass just make as little possible flat surface as possible, try make it all curved.

Bro, you measured a supra boot lately?
The sub would fill the tyrewell and almost hit the bootlid. Without any box or nething.
I give up on him anyway, he is determined to waste his money and do things completely backwards.

Just found out hes ordering 4gs worth of deep dish 18's with 265 & 245 f&&*#@ grippy (ie expensive) rubber. IDIOT

He had to get a huge loan 4 his car and hes counting on getin 10gs 4 his BZG.

Neway, we need to catch up some time man, l8a
