FWD and 4wd wheel offsets

Postby diss7 » Thu Aug 25, 2005 9:32 pm

What is the typical offset for an 8 inch wheel on a front wheel drive?
Just checked out my my partners Glanza, which has a 7.5 inch rim, and the only markings that could be taken as possibly being an offset were 29, and 66. But I doubt whether either of these are correct.

And similiar question. What sort of offset does a Celica/Caldina and a WRX take for a 5x100 wheel; similar to each other or completly different? Again for an 8 inch wheel.

Thanks

29 is quite likely to be the offset of the rims on the glanza. Any lower and the wheel would probably be rubbing on the strut being 7.5" wide.

Its not 29, you can see visually that doesnt stick out like a+29 would.

Cheers anyway.

use that link, it explains how to measure your offset easy enough; also has a quick refference chart which may help.

On my AE101 ive got 17 x 7.5's with 40 offset and the only just clear the rear strut by 1-2mm. And with a very heavy load they occasionally scrape on the guards too.

I think you might be pushing to fit 8" rims on a FWD like a glanza
