What sort of 2e to what sort of 4e, cause if you want to go from a 2e-c to a 4efte or 4efe there is alot of work involed

Um, well you will have to use a injected 4e cause i dont think they make a carby one, not sure tho, just chuck another 2e back it, way easyer and cheaper

depends on want, if you want more grunt and got the cash to spare why not put a efte in there, people say its easier to chuck a 4efte than a 4age. Wasnt there a 2e-t?

You current gearbox/mounts should be fine, youll need it wired $500+ if you cant do it yourself, mounting and piping of the intercooler (im assuming its 4efte) a high pressure fuel pump, maybe a surge tank, a bigger feed line and your stock line can be the return for the EFI. A whole new exhaust system. Youll need a cert, and your brakes and susp may need a bit of a refresh/upgrade. Then theres the usual expenses.

If your gunna do it properly budget over $5g's

so 2E + little or no extra cost vs 4EFTE + $5+ grand

4E will bolt in and they do come out carbed. I did 3E-4E conversion at work a few weeks ago manifolds are different so you might be able to swap the carbs and give it an engine flush cause they prone to shitting themselves

Not alot of that would include labour. Have you done a major carby to EFI conversion. It may seem simple but it all adds up very fast. This being why so many projects get left unfinished. i.e people budget say $2k for a 4age conversion, that gets them a motor, gearbox, mounts, buys some missing parts then theyre broke with, the wiring, exhaust, unexpected problems, cert, all the maintainence parts for the motor. It all adds up, ask anyone whos done a big engine conversion.

Yeh, the general rule, take your budget and double it and youll be about right.

Maybe get another shitter rolling body you can hack away at when you have the cash, cos a reliable economic daily driver is really handy.

jebus, thanks but this isnt my project man! as you can see in my sig, i have a real car to work on and this is my daily hack. as in a car that has more empty bottles of coke and V then a recycle bin and more fast food wrappers then a fast-food-wrapper-storage-facility-cupboard place at a fast food thingy :P

and i doubt its turbs or anything! i'm getting it for FREE! so it will most likely be the crappiest one. which i presume is the carbed version. if so, what do i need to change? i know the whole thing will bolt in. but what about the exhaust manifold? what needs changing there? how about clutch etc? i guess thats all the same...?

thanks for your help so far guys!

also, to add to jebuses comment about the price of a conversion, and doubleing the price... he's right! also, double the time you are thinking you'll need and that might get you a close estimate :P

all 4e's are injected. so it wont be carb'd, only the 12v's (1e, 2e, 3e) come out carb'd
