Nothing like having the wind blowing through your hair :D Makes me feel like a million bucks :)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Or having the windows down AND air-con on.

If it was a really hot day and a customer was coming to pick their car up from the yard, dad woukld put the air-con on for a couple of mins to cool the car down, but as soon as the customer got in, down went the windows. (This was back when petrol was only 90 something cents)

so what does the compressor run on magic pixie dust? it drives off the crack and creates drag same as power steer and alternator. So unless your aircon somehow breaks the second law of thermodynamics, it has to get work from somwhere( ie. petrol)

aircons great. Defogs in winter, keeps icy cold in summer. Thankfully none of my cars are pathetically underpowered enough to suffer noticable with the aircon on. If it got to the point where I couldnt "afford" to drive with the aircon on, then I probably couldnt afford to drive at all.

rip out the air con because its heavy?

thats almost as retarded as looonie ripping out all the sound proofing under the carpet for weight reduction.

surely if you cared THAT much about speed, you'd have a dedicated race car rather than completely devalueing your road one.

and i hear "open a window" ?! hot summer day a window open doesnt do that much, gotta have AC for the big summer roadtrips, its soo nice :D!

most of aqll i use it for demisting, takes like 2 seconds.

Every car I've ever owned with A/C has been ripped out, you'd be surprised how much all the components weigh.

Not having the A/C radiator up the front seemed to get a bit more air flowing round too, made a turbo car run slightly colder actually.

My work car has A/C and I can't say I've ever used it, even on hot Central Otago summer days I tend to just open the window...and I'm not even paying for petrol then either.
