AE82 Bouncing Revs.

Postby Kermit12a » Mon Sep 05, 2005 3:32 pm

Can anyone help?
I have a FXGT (Fun car) with only thing done to it is the air filter has been changed to a K&N. There are 2 solenoids that are not connected to any thing that from what I can tell one was attached to the original air box and the other is against the firewall on the passenger’s side.

My car revs funny. When it is cold it is fine but as it warms up and sits at 800rpm or so it will bounce between this and 1100rpm. :?

Does anyone else have this prob or have any ideas how to fix it???

these engines dont have an idle stepper motor.

they use a wax pellet type idle control valve bolted to the underside of the throttle body. cannot repair that im afraid

But you can pull it off and clean all the crap out of it. Worked for me when I had the bluetop in the MR2.

Just something super simple to check first: make sure you air con is off :) With my ae82 it used to drop quite a few hundred revs when the air con kicked in - not as noticable at higher revs when cold.

Otherwise - what the others said.

My air con does not work the fan fuse thingie (memory laps) keeps popping. I have to take the kick panle off the passanger side remove it and reset it. then it works for a while then it stops. :x
I had my mecanic look at it and he just cleaned the air intake and adjusted the rebe level. this fixed for a little while.
