Locking diff...

Ok since this is supposedly ilega etc 'I'm just asking for a friend.'

Say a friend of mine has a diff that he wants to lock up. Wether teh car will be used on or off the road is irrelevant at this point. Where can he go in the Auckland area on short notice to get it done?

Obviously my friend would need someone that can weld and knows how to weld a diff and that person would also need teh equipment to be able to perform the said task.

My friend will also be willing to pay for this person to help him out.

So....who's got any ideas on how to 'help' my friend out? :D

anyone with a welder ;) weld the teeth on the top and bottom spidergears should do the job

ill weld it up for $20. just need the diff head, all clean, no oil. what car is it out of?

Yeah, when we locked the diff on the starlet, we had a wee oil fire coz it was all drained properly!!!

Don't forget to put a couple a strong bolts or bits of metal in between the gears when you weld it up, just for extra strength ya know! :D

Put some descent grease in with your locker, and overfill it with oil. Both will help it last a bit longer :)

If possible I need it welded tonight.
Then hopefully I'll have enough time to chuck it back into the Soarer for the burnout comp on Saturday.

Hrmm unfortunately it doesn't seem like the locka is going to be in by Saturday as we are going to Waihi beach for the night tonight. Plus last night was under the car trying to figure out how to get the diff out cuz we didn't have big enough Allan Keys :?

Oh wellz...I'll just take her out anywayz and light up the peg legger like in the last comp. At least I owned with it last even with the peg legger :wink:
