Wet Nos and Black Top 4age

Postby tomo1985 » Sat Sep 17, 2005 7:06 pm

I have just purchased a wet nos system. I am getting it installed and Dyno tuned.

Things to do to make the most of it.

-Bigger Fuel pump
-Pod filter
-Heat wrap extractors

What other modifications I should do?
Does anyone know of any one that has tried this?
If so what was the outcome?

I really just wanna find out everything I need to do so any help would be great.

Have you got a decent exhaust? You'll need one if you've only got the stock system.
I dont think you'll need a bigger fuel pump unless you plan on using a big shot of nitrous, a decent fuel pressure regulator ought to suffice.

Depending on the size of the nitrous shot you may not need to retard the timing.

Has it got a WOT switch? Thats an absolute must.

75hp shot

Postby tomo1985 » Sun Sep 18, 2005 1:14 pm

The kit starts at a 75hp shot. What is a WOT switch? I know I could install it myself but would rather get someone with some experience to do it can anyone suggest a installer in CHCH. The car will be dyno tuned once installed to make sure nothing is going to go pop, I am also going to change the spark plugs to two degrees colder as I've heard this helps. Would there be much point in getting a LTX-8 computer installed or will factroy do the job?

Please help as I wanna get afew more ponies out of the old girl.

WOT = wide open throttle.

On a stock engine...infact 99% of engines you only want to use nitrous at wide open throttle. One step colder plugs would suffice.

Are you planning on dragging at Ruapuna? Because thats all nitrous is useful for :)

A guy I know put a 75hp nitrous kit on his 4AGZE.

Had it on there for a year with no problems.

Then one day he actually switched it on and used it and it shat the engine straight away.

With a question like this,

Would there be much point in getting a LTX-8 computer installed or will factory do the job?

I personally think you are headded for a catastrophe.

What dyno tuning can you do on a stock ecu apart from retarding and advancing the ignition timing?

Are you buying a ZEX system because from what I've read they are by far the easiest system to install. I'd be inclined to spend and afternoon doing it yourself.

My blue top never had a problem with my zex system. I used short electrode and ground strap plugs and changed the fuel filter, that is all.

Holley Nos

Postby tomo1985 » Mon Sep 19, 2005 6:08 pm

I have bought a Holley NOS system as got a really good deal. So is it not really worth dyno tuning? I'm thinking of getting Columbus in CHCH to put it in as I have heard they have had good results. What are your opinions on wether the engin will hold together used at WOT?

Theres a handful of people on the http://www.mr2oc.com board in the US that have a heap of knowledge on it. Theres a Nitrous FAQ section, go have a look its quite a good read :)

Nos'd 4age

Postby tomo1985 » Thu Sep 22, 2005 11:09 am

I am now getting the nos installed things i have on the list to buy.

Colder Plugs
Fuel Pump 260ltr/hr
Fuel reg
Cold air box
Pod Filter
Stainless pipe for intake
New Leads
Full Exhaust
Extractors

I have found that Holly makes a switch that works of you rpm so it makes it so the nos wont come on below whatever rpm you set it at. I am also trying to find a quad throttle 4age that has used nos before and where about to place the squirter to have even distribution into each cylinder.

What does a higher flow fuel pump give you?
The answer is Helmholtz!
