Removing KE70 exterior doorhandles...

Wanting to swap the chrome KE70 door handles from my 4 door parts car to my 2 door liftback.

Just having a quick look with the door card off, it looks like I have to take the whole locking/door opening system to bits to get the handle off due to the way the door opening bar is attached to the handle mechanism.

Does anyone know for sure if there is an easier way, like a way to unattach the bar from the handle mechanism, before I start pulling the whole lot to bits...

they're held on by 2 10mm nuts and you'll have to disconnect the control rod to the lock. to do this , from memory, you draw the handle out of the recess and this gives access to the rod.

Yeah got the 10mms sorted...but you can't really get the handle out of the recess after that, the position of the control rod stop's it coming out enough to gain access to the fastenings.

That's what I needed to know, are they clipped on? So you don't actually have to unscrew the rod...

there is a clip on the top (handle) end of the rod. you'll see it has a gap where it clips over the rod.

the screwed part is is for adjusting the rod stroke

I don't even have a KE70 (but used to have one as a doner car for its engine and gearbox) and I still know how to do this!!!!

I'm pretty sure that you couldn't make yourself look any stupider, you could try, but you're really looking pretty damn dumb...so could someone please lock this thread, I know the easy way to get my door handles off (taking into account bad20v's useful tech section help.. )
