how fast are you changing from 1st to 2nd, like raping it or just normally. Is this once the car/engine/gearbox is warm? or right after starting from cold.

I had the same problem with you, its the syncros, toyota never built our boxes with strong enuff syncros so its quite common to find these with fuked boxes. I was needing to replace my clutch at the same time so with the price of putting in new syncros etc. i just bought a 2nd hand average condition box, and got that put in, along with the new clutch kit etc.

it happened after the engine warm up.....i change gear from first to 2nd around 3200rpm.....

but if i press the clutch and keep it like 1 second, them put into 2nd gear, it's fine

My old ST162 went through a couple of boxes, one i blew the box and diff (go me!). The price to replace synchros was something stupid like $400 for 1 synchro!! Just get a new box, alot easier in the long run.

Yep I blew 2 2nd gears in my ST162. Try and find a ST171 GT-R box, they appear to be less thrashed and are better. Or ideally an SV32 GT box, these have longer ratios and are stronger 8)
But yeah, cheap option, fill gearbox with marmite
Or just get a replacement box :)

st171 and sv32 gear box can fit my st182 straight away? how about st191 cornoa? is it the same box..
and the longer gear ratio, it is means accelerate slower??

thx

longer gear ratio means it has longer gears, hence being able to do what you could do in 2nd when with the stock box you were already in 3rd.
