take the fu*d engine out and get it paneled and painted including engine bay, then once you running engine is in there you dont need to take it out again when respraying the car.. then you will have a mint base to sart with and do all your suspension and wheels from there and you dnt need to do things twice.. Im also doing up my KE70, they're so easy to work on, if you dont do most of it yourself, theres something wrong with ya
New shocks and springs will make it handle a heap better...KYB's are a good cheap upgrade. Get a set of extractors and a 2" exhaust to help it breathe better...if you want to make a bit more power, cant go wrong with a sidedraft Weber or Dellorto and a good cam grind.

Yea il be doing most the work meself cheaper and ya can take a bit of pride in it 8) Also its got cuttys and shortened shocks is that legal and if so whats the handleing like with them as i cant realy drive the car at the mo wif the $&#$% engine :(

Depends where you go for paint, a repsray can be as little as $500 or as much as you can imagine.
Cutties are illegal, and generally they'll make the car handle like a bucket of arse. Shortened shocks are kosher, provided they still give you 100mm ground clearance.

How much would i be looking at 4 a set of lowering springs and shocks? And where would be a good place in ChCh to get paint work done?

Go into Repco and ask about shocks and springs.
Yellowpages is your best bet for paint.

Depending on if you know any specialist suspension guys, most will sell springs for around $380+GST but there may be cheaper.

Lowering's easy, just get some standard springs and take them Bellamy & East in Chch, $120 will get them compressed to whatever specs you want, if you want low, then get the front's down 70mm, and the backs about 80mm, you've got shortened shocks so they should still be captive, and don't actually handle that bad at all... 8)

If the back aren't captive, get some KE70 wagon rear shocks and they will bolt in, and should keep the springs in place.
