cant diagnose fault on a vitz

Postby Psycho_Dad » Thu Sep 22, 2005 1:41 pm

hey guys, i am currently troubleshooting a 2000 toyota vitz(echo import) powered by a 1sz-fe... it has a intermittant engine light and radiator light problem(theirs 2 radiator lights; ones red, ones blue, and blue one is the one causing me hassle) - so i go to do a diagnostic, and theirs no diagnostic plug so i cant bridge the pins... WTF? it happens when driving it around, someitmes cold, sometiemes warm..

so does anyone know what the blue radiator light means? the vitz has enough oil/transfluid/radiator fluid... and if i cant do a diagnostic, whats next?

thanks in advance guys

the vitz would use the next generation ECUs, there will be a connector in the loom, maybe on the drivers side under the dash.
im not sure if you can bridge the terminals to get the codes though.

the blue one just means its cold. notice how they dont have a temp gauge?

if its on when its definitly hot, then id be checking ya temp sensors

As said they have no gauge,
just a blue light for cold,
and a red light for too hot,
and nothing for OK.

It will have a diagnosis connector but it will be ODBII shape and you will probably need a scan tool to read and understand the codes out of it.

Check the engine temp after a drive of about 10 mins and see if it's too hot, or too cold, and check the thermostat.
