Any car ive been in with compressed springs sticks to the road happy as larry, may not 'handle' as well as aftermarket springs, but certainly arent bad or dangerous.

generally the less coils a spring has the stiffer it is, like if you get customs springs made up and theyre too soft, they just cut a coil and extend them back up to the original height, making them stiffer but not lower, also the thickness/weight of the steel used to make them matters also.

Id personally go for Aftermarket or custom, but if money is a real issue then compressed is fine IMO.

Thanks for the help.

No its not,you can cut your springs as much as you want as long as theyre captive within your strut eg.take your piston rod out of your strut, put in lathe and shorthen to suit, ive just got my 808 wagon certified and thats exactly what i did in the front, certifier said it was not a problem, the only catch with a car that isnt going to get certed is that you cant do this, but your allowed 'an aftermarket shock/spring setup that is a direct bolt in and doesnt make any structural point on your ride lower than 100mm' now ive done the above (cutting springs/shortening shocks) in my last 4 rides and get WOF's with no prob(non certified cars),all your got to say is that its a direct replacement,if you do a gud job of shortening, paint your springs up etc. how are they going to know that it isnt a direct replacement?? But yea the ride quality is shit and you will be spilling your macca's shake on your lap all the time but if your only after looks who gives a f#$k your ride will look staunch and bumpsteer aint that hard to control, makes driving ya car a lil bit more fun, just my 10cents worth :D
