Get the stock tyre size for your car and go to:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Select the stock size and have a play with the new size to find something that matches.

I think your stock size is 175/65R14, so if you wanted to go wider (which you would almst need to on 6" wide rims), you could use 185/60R14 (speed reads 0.9% fast), 195/60R14 (speedo reads 1.1% slow), or 205/55R14 (if you can find that size!) (speed reads 0.3% fast).

Note that you need to make sure that the rim hub is supported by the wheel hub, not by the studs i.e. the wheel hub should centre the rim onto the hub, and that your centreline offset is correct, otherwise you will cause uneven wear on the wheel bearings.

He has a cynos B (say GT / GT APEX of the levin's / trueno's), Which, in turn, had optional alloy wheels. (good ol toyota)

Gf had 195 / 50? (i think) R15, however could have come factory with 185's.

But no... not 175's its not a starlet :P

Cunning plan would be, to look inside the door frame of your car. On the majority of cars, you will find a tag that will tell you the recomended tire pressures, and the standard size tires to suit your car :) If no 14" (only 13") size is listed for your car, ring a tire shop, and ask them which 14" size is the same as the 13" size that you will find on the sticker. That'll get you the exact size tire easy.
