Are you feeling this thump feeling thru the steering wheel?

If so it's more than likely just normal characteristics of FWD during hard take offs, most the cars greater than 2L that i've thrashed seems to do that ...

Are you getting a strong shudder from the wheels? Almost like the front of your cars boncing?

I think that happens when your on the verge of loosing traction, they grip for a second then sip then grip and so fourth. Or something like that happenes to me too. Not really sure whats happeneing its just my guess :)

try a little less revs in the first instance and then as you feel good grip plant it its all about keeping as much traction as you possibly can.
yip this is very common for fwd.

ok so no one really seems to be helping you.... kinda weird.

what rpm are you launching at? what clutch?

there is a VERY precise technique for launching fwd cars, especially with no lsd, and a standard clutch makes it a little easier.

Basically find the very begginging of the clutch, by reving up and down and letting the clutch out to the point, then HOLD the clutch where it is, wait for the orange, then you have to learn the next part, takes time, its kinda like a hill start

(IT WILL $&#$% YOUR CLUTCH but hey), you wanna launch good, you then blip the throttle to maybe only about 3-3250 on a 4age, and release the clutch SLOWLY, maintaining the same rpm (or pitch, this way you can look ahead and just listen to the car) at around just before tvis, maybe 4g ish, slipping the clutch untill its fully engaged, then go

ive really only ever drivin fast fwds and always on the road, in my younger days, and thats how i used to race, id spend countless night on end using 2 or more tanks of gas near wanaka with my ex trying to perfect it, thats what worked for me! (in ae92 tvis redtop trueno)

Hope this "homo" advice helps, just thought no one else would help ya

yea you just need to keep at it, every car is diff, i do the same as crnkin,

hold it at say 3 - 4k pop the clutch out should get a couple of chirps and foot to the floor, if you light the wheels up and go nowhere you used the accelerator too soon, simple really, just keep at it and try diff techniques to see wat suits your and your car best
I had vtax :(

make sure your gearbox and engine mounts are in decent condition, as $&#$% ones can cause it to bang like that

Wheel Hop....

Postby jondee86 » Mon Sep 26, 2005 8:39 pm

Q Several months ago I added a Jackson Blower to my ’95 Integra GS-R. I really like the additional power, and the torque has really helped out with the pick-up. Now the problem seems to be front wheelhop like you’d find on the back of a V-8 muscle car when I mash the accelerator in First gear. This additional power is not too much use without the traction. I don’t know if I should go to a stiffer front spring, or different one. I also don’t want to mess up the handling. Should I remove the aftermarket sway bar? Any ideas?
Stan Hessons Richmond, VA

A Before looking into altering the spring rates and sway bar combinations that may adversely affect your vehicle’s handling, be sure to inspect all the front suspension bushings. Excess bushing play could be the cause of the movement that is responsible for the wheelhop. If these bushings are worn, replace them with more resilient polyurethane versions, which are stiffer and better suited to controlling wayward control arms. If the hop persists, then you should look into swapping shock absorbers to a tunable version that adds more rebound dampening to help control the wheelhop. Rebound-adjustable shocks for this application are available from Koni and Tokico. Additional shock absorber compression and higher spring rates will only aggravate the problem and give a rigid and back bruising ride.

Yeah... stole it, but it saved a lot of writing :)
