I am converting my 1985 MX73 GLX 2.8i cressida from ect auto to manual using a w50 and m-eu flywheel from a 1979 MA45 celica.

my questions are as follows....

1. If i change the distributor from cranck angle sensor distributor to vacum advance, change to old school loom and computer can i remove all the auto loom and contollers from the car?

2. Can i use the pedal box and clutch master from a manual 1981 GX61 corona?

3. Can i use the front peice of the GX61 driveshaft in place of the front peice of the cressida's origanal driveshaft when i have put the w50 in?

Thanks in advance
Ben

Hey man I was ust wondering what the point of changing the dizzy and loom over would be? If your worried about the auto loom, You can pretty much just chop it off and loop the inhibitor switch(That should be 2 larger wires so you can bypass the START IN PARK feature)

Also does the new fywheel have the same PCD as your flex plate?

i beleive that the ect controlers are tied in with the newer loom so if i change to old school loom and computer from a non ect controlled car in theory i would be able to take "ALL" the current auto loom out , but in doing that i would have to change to vacum advance dizzy as the old school computer will not run the car with the crank angle dizzy....

and what is pcd of a flywheel and why would i need to worry about that??

the pcd denotes the pattern of the bolts on the flywheel.

if your pcd's on the flywheel and the flex plate dont match... you cannot bolt your flywheel up.

Hey man your VTA will be fine it runs of the Throttle position sensor the crank angle sensor according to wiring diagrams runs to the ecu. But this only works for late model ECT transmissions as the OLDER ones run to the ECT computer I have a website outlying full functions of an ECT transmissions both old and new I wrote it down for you if you want to come and get it you know where i live. Oh and theres a special note if your speedo cable falls out it cant compare signals to speed hence why the over drive flashes on an off. :D :D :D :D :D :D
