blacktop 20v AE85/6 owner q's

Postby AE85.6 » Fri Oct 07, 2005 8:58 pm

depending on what price the guy wants for the engine it could be an option for my beast i spose,

whats the main missions ?

if ke70wagon is still making those replacement dizzys that would sort that part of it out as i dont wanna cut a hole or masage the firewall at all.

i hear the wiring is a bit of a mission thou ?

bigger fuel pump ? or might go for adding a surge tank as it splutters a lil bit doing donuts currently anyway :P

bigger radiator ? or spose i could see if hes still got the one that came with the blacktop ?

what about headers ? the ports are in the same places arent they and its just the bolt holes from the 16v to 20v that are close but dont line up, can i reslot my current ones to save them ? or what about those funky looking ones that most of the rwd 20v have with the crazy up bends before leaving the engine bay they look expensive ?

hey man
i'l answer your q's as best i can

ke70wagon isnt makin any dizzy relocators until xmas hlidays, sodependin how long u have to wait could stil be option

wiring isnt any harder than wiring up a 4age from 3a etc, if they know what they're doin shouldnt take much longer than 1-2 hours

if your have ae85 you wil need upgrade radiator, otherwise ae86 one wil probaly be sweet, if not later model camry one will fit. you will have to make up some pipes/water lines for the coolin system tho to convert fwd to rwd

headers you can use your factory ones, however the two end bolts need the holes slotted / washer used. or u could check whether the ultra bling bling TRR headers are for 20v or 16v. these are nice

Just as a point of interest, I think Coby are making rwd 20v extractors. About $250 retail?

ah i see, nah ill stay away from the coby ones ay and they are press bent normally anyways, ive got some nice mandrell bent ones which ill try save. oh ok i just heard that the wiring was a real mission but soesnt sound too bad thats good.

but ye would still need to sort the dizzy out otherwise the normal does foul the firewall doesnt it.

the normal one does hit the firewall, but you could always bash a hole in it

or you could run coil packs

i would call the wiring easy, just depends if you get someone who has done it before or knows what they are doing

Yea sold my last dizzy relocator to a guy in oz 20v'n an old corona. But uni's almost over forever for me so should get a few more whipped up. Otherwise relocate the water lines and bash the firewall for the dizzy.

As said the wiring is easy if you get a few pin out diagrams

ae85 radiator is the ae86 and will work fine but a bigger one would be nice. Its best to get a little weld up on your extractors its no biggie just slotting and washers is abit rangi and the far one fouls the water outlet
