don't do it! car is far too heavy for anything but a really mighty tuned 3sgte.
1JZ-GTE, 2JZ-GTE, 1UZ-FE, 1GZ-FE, or at a pinch, 7M-GTE
nothing else :P
you need the torque mate *nod*

Yeah, would have to agree. You've got room for something with at least 6 cylinders so you might as well go for it.

You could put a 3S in it as it would be a fairly easy fit.
If you do the conversion you would be bound to inner Auckland city though as you wouldn't have enough power to get her up a hill...any hill

1uzfe would be my plan.
then you have all the torque you need for the heavy beast.

i wouldnt even think about a 3sgte unless you have lots of money, and want to do alot of weight reduction.

lol yeh i know what yous are saying. the weight is a bit of a bugger......

but let say a 350hp 3SGTE in it would shift the weight right back and reduce oversteer and give a much more natual handling,, at the end of the day its not gonna be a hardout dragster just a nice road car that take corner like a frerrari... am hoping... and the different factor as well... give me your though..

there was that MkIV from japan with the 3sgte which haulled ass- but no doubt it had a lot of weight reduction as well as that dinner plare turbo, which I doubt made it a nice cruiser. As said in standard it would not be to impressive, and modded, well, the 6's recommended would still be a nicer ride...
but as far as fitting it rwd goes, there was lots talked about prevously so it should be somewhere in the search. The belhousings especially have been covered for s-w box.
Most other stuff will require custom building I expect- xmember etc.
as you suggest, it would pull the weight back a little and would be different to whats out there.

The supra you're talking about is the Top Secret Supra GT300

http://www.fast-autos.net/topsecret/topsecretgt300.html

I'd sell my kidney for that.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

from my poor memory, the 3s in that supra was more of a altezza one

A. it was sitting upright, insead of on an angle
B. its then ready to go, rear wheel drive ready

since you can run the 3s long ways, converting to rwd shouldnt pose to many problems.

How much power and torque does a 1GGTE make stock though? Bet its no more than a mildly warmed over 3SGTE could make.

Indeed it's not. That's why the 1G was a poorly designed motor for the *A70 Chassis!

If you wanted a cross member etc for an S series motor you could try and find a wrecked Toyota Comfort

They came rear wheel drive and use a 4SFE as an engine theres your mounts etc for a 3SGTE there are a few S series Toyota Coronas with 1S diesels in them there rear wheel as well.

But like the guys here will tell you go the extra mile and put a 6 cylinder in if you want to be unique put a 2JZGTE in one late model motor in an older car.

LMFAO
zIgen, Top of the class :P .

1cs are shiddas Get a 1HDTE straight 6 24v diesal.

Back to reality

You could probably make custom mounts and the 1S->W5X bellhousing out of the st140 corona (RWD) and bolt on a W5X Youd probably get a custom manifold.
Dude it would be different and cool, you have my vote BUT...
The tourqe of a six or 8 Might be better, like The fellow toyspeeders are sayin 1g, 1j, 2j, 1uz, 1gz(if you could find one ) lol Go with what what you think will touch your side.

My 3 cents

lol yeh so basicly i should find a old corona or something like that with a S or C motor and steal all the bits off that!. the supra already have w57 in it so that should make it a bit easier,,, and a (single cam 1g powerbox too lol)

sweet as for the torque i'll just have to get a few starter motor and bolf them together, should give me some up hill powers :P

C Is diesal, but i have herd rumors that there the same/close to the s motors. I know some won with a s to w bellhousing, so if you decide to go through with it i may be able to get you the sump, bell housing, flywheel ect. hmmmm lol starter motors hahahaha, I would sereiosly consider the 1ggte though soooo easy to put in, likewise for the jz.
Sleep on it for a week.

The main reason for putting the 3S into a Supra in Japan was racing, the 4 cylinders were allowed to run more boost and could potentially make more power than the 6 cylinder with lower weight.
For the road the swap is a complete waste of time.
