Soarer Odometer tampering

Postby UZZ30 » Thu Oct 13, 2005 6:57 pm

Is it possible to wind back the digital numbers on the toyota soarer odometer? i hope its alot more difficult to do than a regular mechanical odometer.... :? (ps i dont want to wind it back, just want to know if it is possible!)

Ive found a soarer with 121,000kms.. just wondering if this may have been wound back.. Doubt it tho as its in excellent condition!

any ideas? please help.

the newer ones are diagnostic port programable, you can actually buy a special tool to do that (on the net of course)

Yes its possible....but a good service history is more important than overall mileage anyway. A car with 250,000k+ thats been serviced every 5,000k is worth more in my book than one with only 100,000k that hasn't been touched but thats just my opinion.

And you can have a fair guess at the mileage by the condition its in anyway.

Its a uzz30 basic soarer model. Not sure why they were 2.8k for each shock... may be there really good ones, have to have a closer look.

 at first i prefered green but now like the gold much more its god tan interior instead of grey. Looks much better i think.

Ill have to apply for a VIR that will give me better info on this car or a Full AA inspection.. how much do they cost any idea?

AA Inspections generally aren't worth much more than running it through for a new warrant and since it expires next month, I'd be asking for a new warrant anyway.

And I don't know of any independant Vehicle Inspectors in Taupo sorry, someone else may be able to help with that.

So I'm guessing you'll be holding on to the spoiler now

And the only way I can think of that the shocks cost that much was if they replaced the LCA's at the same time

go V8! haha nah, I was just more impressed by the v8 soarer than the TT, not bagging the TT in any way.
Good luck on the buying of the car in question :)
